Grapefruit Beer Margaritas are a delectable turn on an exemplary margarita. Appreciate them lasting through the year – particularly during winter through spring when grapefruit is in season.

Since Cinco de Mayo is around the bend, I figured it is proper to share another margarita formula. We've been getting a charge out of heaps of crisp citrus, including grapefruit – so this is the place that thought originated from.

I made a straightforward syrup with tart grapefruit juice, at that point included tequila and crown.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz Corona Extra (or Corona Light)
  • 1 oz tequila
  • 4 oz grapefruit simple syrup
  • Grapefruit simple syrup - 1 cup grapefruit juice + 1½ tbsp sugar

Instructions

  1. Make the simple syrup if you don't already have it on hand.
  2. Combine grapefruit juice and sugar in a small saucepan over a medium heat. Mix until the sugar is dissolved and remove it from the heat just before it begins to boil. Allow it to cool.
  3. Combine sugar and/or salt with food coloring to make salt. Wet the rim of your glass with a little simple syrup and dip it upside down on a plate to salt the rim.
  4. Combine beer, tequila, and simple syrup in a shaker with ice. Pour into the glass over ice and garnish with a grapefruit slice.
